A Doula Exploring the Intersection of Healing, Culture & Community

If you’re looking for a certified birth and postpartum doula who is also a wellness advocate, childbirth educator, and curator of nurturing spaces that honor culture, healing, and personal transformation, welcome!

My name is Andrea, founder of Maternal Haven, a sanctuary for birthing people and families navigating the transformative journey into parenthood. I’m a multi-passionate caregiver, advocate, and wellness guide, dedicated to holding space for healing, identity, and growth during the sacred seasons of birth and postpartum. My work is deeply rooted in compassion, evidence-based care, and inclusive practices that celebrate the beauty and diversity of every family. With years of hands-on experience as a doula, I bring a grounded, intuitive approach to supporting families as they adjust to life’s most tender transitions.

Beyond one-on-one care, I facilitate workshops and partner with community organizations to offer culturally competent education on reproductive wellness, postpartum mental health, and the importance of community care. I also use storytelling, advocacy, and collaboration to elevate conversations around birth justice, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and accessible postpartum support. Whether I’m supporting a new parent in finding their rhythm, leading a community circle, or collaborating on wellness initiatives, my mission remains the same: to create spaces where healing is honored, voices are heard, and care is communal.

I’m a first-generation latina raised in a multigenerational household that valued community and togetherness. Raised by the concept of a “village,” I was surrounded by chosen families and the principles of collective care–mutual aid, interdependence, collaboration, and emotional support–from an early age. This upbringing shaped my beliefs and values, leading me to become a birth and postpartum doula focused on the intersection of mental health, community, and well-being.

Those early lessons in nurturing and responsibility naturally evolved into my work as a caregiver. First as a nanny, caring for children during their most formative years, and now as a birth and postpartum doula, mentor to emerging doulas, and childbirth educator. Each role I’ve held has deepened my belief in the power of presence—of being truly with someone during life’s most vulnerable and sacred transitions.

As a doula, I operate at the intersection of healing, culture, and community. My work is grounded in tradition and rooted in advocacy—honoring ancestral knowledge while also navigating the modern challenges birthing people and new families face, especially those within BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. I offer more than support; I offer a sense of belonging in spaces that too often leave people feeling unseen or unheard.

In a world that often isolates and individualizes the parenting journey, I believe deeply in restoring the village—through education, birth work, and radical care. Whether I’m teaching a childbirth class, guiding a laboring person through contractions, or sitting quietly beside a parent in postpartum recovery, my intention remains the same: to help people feel safe, heard, and empowered.

Through my work, I aim to help people recognize the transformative power of culture and community— how ancestral wisdom, shared support, and collective care can guide us through the tender transitions of parenthood, and into a deeper sense of healing, strength, and connection.
